The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) has named Leopoldo Micò as the new Head of the Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat, effective March 24, 2025. He takes over from Tarik Bellahcene, who stepped down in December 2024.
Micò brings a strong background in renewable energy and certification, having previously led the Solar KEYMARK Secretariat at Solar Heat Europe. EHPA stated that his experience will support the continued development of the Heat Pump KEYMARK scheme and its alignment with industry needs.
Based in Brussels for over seven years, Micò is expected to bring an international approach to the role. In addition to overseeing the Heat Pump KEYMARK Secretariat, he will also manage the EHPA Quality Label. His responsibilities will include coordinating meetings, facilitating communication among National Commissions, and expanding the programme’s visibility across Europe.
“I am thrilled to join EHPA and take on this new role. My priority will be to ensure a smooth transition and engage with stakeholders to understand their evolving needs. I look forward to working together to uphold high standards and drive innovation in heat pump certification,” said Micò.
Danaé Kokkalis, EHPA’s Senior Communications Officer, will support Micò during the transition and assist in tasks related to both the Heat Pump KEYMARK and Quality Label.
Micò is also scheduled to participate in the first edition of the Heat Pump Technologies Conference, taking place in Milan on April 2–3, 2025. He will speak during EHPA’s session on harmonising EU certification standards for heat pumps on the event’s second day.
